WPD Mission Statement
In 2004, the Wheeling Park District adopted a new logo and a new mission statement. The changes express the Park District’s renewed commitment to YOU. YOU are the driving force behind all the Park District offers. The new logo is a reminder that at the Wheeling Park District “We’re People Driven.”

Our Mission is to provide memorable experiences in parks & recreation that enrich our communities.
The organization is working toward a future where all ages and backgrounds find memorable experiences in parks and recreation. The Park District is dedicated to enriching our communities of infants and toddlers, Preschoolers, school-age children, high schoolers, adults, mature adults, and families.
"The future of the Park District will be determined by our communities," said Executive Director Jan Buchs.
"We embrace the diversity of needs within our communities, and welcome everyone to experience parks and recreation with the Wheeling Park District."
The Park District will continue to assess, understand, and meet the communities’ park and recreation needs; to increase awareness of Wheeling Park District; and to exceed your expectations.

WPD Vision Statement
In 2006, the Wheeling Park District developed its new Vision statement. The Vision of the Wheeling Park District is:
To become the provider of choice in parks and recreation within the communities that we serve.
The three primary areas of focus to achieve the Vision are:
Participation
The Wheeling Park District commits to continually reach out to the community, seeking input to identify valid park, recreation services, and facility needs.Open Space
The Wheeling Park District commits to strike a balance between maintaining its facilities and preserving open space within the existing urban environment.Partnerships
The Wheeling Park District commits to build purposeful partnerships that are of civic priority, fiscally responsible and enhance the community.
