Wheeling Park District Youth Athletics
The Wheeling Park District’s goal is to provide excellent athletics programs for the youth of the community. This is accomplished with well-maintained facilities and fields, state-of-the-art equipment, and well-trained coaches. From your child’s perspective, this means he/she will enjoy an atmosphere of learning, growing, and fun! All youth athletics programs are designed to encourage boys and girls to develop fundamental skills and a basic knowledge of the rules of the game, as well as practice teamwork and healthy sportsmanship attitudes. Playing in a child-centered, structured, organized league is an experience every child should remember fondly.

When registering for any youth athletics league, please use the “Youth Athletics Registration Form”. This form is helpful for organizing leagues and determining teams. The additional information required on this form enables staff to increase the safety and quality of the leagues.
4 v 4 Soccer League
Join this fun, affordable, recreational league! Boys and girls, ages eight to 10 years of age, can stay active while preparing for Spring Soccer. No practices are held. Play one game a week for seven weeks indoors at the Twain School gym. Professional referees oversee the two 20-minute halves. One parent volunteer needed per game. Wheeling Park District jersey required; available for purchase at the CRC for $18 (not included in registration fee). If player already has a jersey from another season, purchase is not necessary.
Games are played at 2 PM on Saturdays from January 28 to March 10.

Youth Soccer League - Spring 2012
The Wheeling Park District, in cooperation with Prospect Heights Park District, provide a structured soccer league for those in Grades K-8. This league offers a fun and exciting experience for children while developing skills. All players learn in an atmosphere where teamwork and sportsmanship are stressed.
The registration deadline for the Spring 2012 League is March 31. Games start the weekend of April 14. All games are played on the new Wheeling High School turf field!
Boys & Girls Basketball

Designed to promote skill development and teamwork while enjoying the game of basketball, the focus stays on sportsmanship and fundamentals throughout the program. WWS and Division 1 emphasize fundamentals and skills over competition but as the divisions progress, so does the competition. Divisions 2-3 practice one time a week and play a 14-game schedule WWS plays 10 games while Division 1 plays a 12-game schedule. There is no season-ending tournament for any Division. All games are played at the CRC and Rating Clinics are held for Divisions 2, 3, 4, and 5.
Last call to register for WWS (Grade K) and Divisions 1-3 (Grades 1-6)! Register by 12/2 for Division 4 (Grade 7-8), and by 12/9 for Division 5 (Grade 9-10).
Tennis
The Wheeling and Arlington Heights Park Districts are pleased to offer tennis lessons for youth and adults. Fall, winter, and spring tennis programs are offered indoors at Heritage Park Tennis Club, 7 W. College Drive, in Arlington Heights. Professional staff from Heritage Tennnis Club provide lessons throughout the year at the indoor facility. For class dates and times, please refer to the Wheeling Park District Fall Program Guide.

Kids First Sports Safety was established in 2002 to provide youth sports training through a process of consistent teaching practicices based on fun, safety, skills, and confidence. Kids First Volleyball League
This fun and instructional program for boys and girls prepares them to succeed in volleyball.
Age: 6-14 yrs
The next session takes place on Saturdays from 4/14-5/19, 9-10:15 AM, for ages 6-8 years, and 10:15-11:30 AM, for ages 9-14 years, at the Community Recreation Center.
Kids Soccer Fundamentals
Ideal for beginners to advanced players, this program for boys and girls combines body balance and speed drills with preparation soccer drills and ends with a championship game.
Age: 4-14 yrs
The next sessions take place on Wednesdays from 3/21-4/18, 6-7 PM, or Monday through Friday, 3/26-3/30, at the Community Recreation Center.
Kids First Spring Flag Football League
Boys and girls learn fundamentals and develop skills during the first two weeks; starting with week three, players are assigned to teams and play 55-minute games culminating with a championship game.
Age: 6-14 yrs
The next session takes place on Saturdays from 4/14-5/19, 9-10:15 AM, for ages 6-8 years, 10:15-11:30 AM, for ages 0-14 years, at the new Wheeling High School turf fieldl.
Kids First Volleyball League
