Dance, Music and Other Cultural Arts
Wheeling Park District’s cultural arts programs enrich lives by providing exciting new experiences in dance, music, art and other creative expressions. Our classes offering a welcoming, supportive environment that encourage budding artists to use their creativity and imaginations to build self-confidence, learn teamwork and cultivate new life skills.
The Wheeling Park District Dance program is based on a foundation of ballet, tap, and dance appreciation. Offered throughout the year, classes are taught at the CRC by experienced, dedicated staff and culminate with a spring dance recital.
Meet Dance Coordinator Angelique Marie: A native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Angelique brings more than 25 years of dance experience in both teaching and directing. She started taking dance at the age of three and has taught all styles of the discipline. She earned her teaching certification in 1981, and continues to keep up with the dance industry as it evolves. Her professional dance credits include performances and production shows along with several grand openings for the Milwaukee Bucks and Milwaukee Brewers professional ball teams.
The 2017 Spring Dance Recital will take place on Saturday, May 6, at the CRC.

Creative dance and play helps your little dancer develop a sense of rhythm along with fine and gross motor skills while having fun!
Dance 1,2,3 Combo
Age: 3-9 yrs
Progress through the levels of dance while learning different styles. This unique class grows with your child and their dance technique.
Age: 4-6 yrs
Dress as your favorite princess and learn ballet steps.
Age: 7-9 yrs
Get ready for a very energetic form of dance derived from street dancing and funky jazz dance.
Age: 7-9 yrs
This fusion of ballet with jazz and contemporary dance techniques allows you to learn to move with grace and elegance.
Age: 3 yrs-Adult
The recital date for Bollywood is March 19.
This Indian Bollywood-influenced, semi-classical, folk, hip hop, jazz, Middle-Eastern style dancing is not only fun but great exercise as well.
Ballet FolkloricoAge: 8 yrs-Adult
The recital date for Ballet Folklorico is May 9.
Learn about the colorful culture of Mexico by learning to dance to the traditional and upbeat Folkloric Ballet music. Students learn the basics of zapateado (tapping), posture, hand movement, rhythm, and basic choreography.
Youth & Adult Music Instruction
Develop a new skill or enhance your existing abilities in a motivating with our professional music instructors.
Digital Piano Lessons (5 yrs+)
If you have always dreamed of playing piano, now is your chance! Our professional instructors make it fun and easy.
Guitar Lessons (5 yrs+)
Learn to play the guitar and enjoy creating your own music or reproducing your favorite band! Participants must provide guitar – electric, acoustic, or classic.
Age: 3-12 yrs
Classes enhance basic drawing techniques, train students in color theory and boost self confidence.
Age: 6-12 yrs
Each class consists of a fun interactive teaching period and guided practice time. A chess competition with prizes takes place at the end of the session.
Age: 6-12 yrs
Students prepare and eat healthy globally-inspired recipes while learning to cook in a fun, engaging and real-world way.
