2018 Event Series

The Wheeling Park District hosts over 25 special events every year at Heritage Park. At the heart of Heritage Park, the Performance Pavilion comes to life every summer with the best entertainers in the area. The outdoor stage, with views of Heritage Lake and adjacent to the Community Recreation Center, Family Aquatic Center and Sports Complex, makes the perfect get-away close to home. In 2018, the Park District plans to host the most popular bands in the area, entertainment ideal for children and families, and festivals that represent the diversity and richness of our community.


Call for Bands

From November 1 - December 31 the Wheeling Park District is accepting entries from bands that would like to perform during the 2018 Summer Entertainment Series. A summer time tradition, the Summer Entertainment Series features 3 Friday night headliner concerts, 3 Saturday Children's Shows, 8 Sunday Sounds of Summer Concerts, and 3 Special Events (Craft Beer and Wine Festival, Classic Car Show & Touch a Truck, and Passport to the World: International Festival). During the Fall, the Park District hosts "Fallapalooza" and "Oktoberfest" that also feature live band entertainment. Held at the state-of-the-art Heritage Park Performance Pavilion, these musical events bring the Wheeling Park District community together throughout the year!

Friday Night Headliners

Held once a month from June - August, the Friday night headliners feature the most popular bands in the area! Past performers include "Semple", "7th Heaven", "Bella Cain", "Hi-Infidelity", and more!

"Sounds of Summer" Sunday Concerts

Held every Sunday from June to early August, the Sounds of Summer concerts provide a wide range of musical performances that represent the diversity of our community. Past performers include "American English", "Mariachi Monumental de Mexico", "Mason Rivers", "The New Invaders", and more!

Children's Entertainment

Held once a month on Saturdays, the Children Shows feature kid-friendly bands that get the little ones excited about singing and dancing. Past performers include "Miss Jamie's Farm", "Scribblemonster", "Ben Tater & the Tater Tots", and more!

Special Events

During the year the Wheeling Park District hosts 5 unique specials events ("Craft Beer and Wine Festival", "Classic Car Show & Touch-a-Truck", "International Festival", "Fallapalooza", "Oktoberfest") where musical acts add to the experience of the event. Past performers include "Eric Howell", "Mariachi Institute of Chicago", "Billy Croft and the Five Alarm", ""Modern Day Romeos" and more!

Call for Entertainers

From November 1 - February 28 the Wheeling Park District is accepting entries from entertainers that would like to provide their services during the 2018 year. Held at the state-of-the-art Heritage Park Performance Pavilion, these musical events bring the Wheeling Park District community together throughout the year!

Children's Entertainment

Held once a month on Saturdays, the Children Shows feature kid-friendly entertainers that get the little ones excited about singing, dancing, and jumping. Previous entertainers include balloonists, face painters, and bounce house rentals. The Park District is interested in looking for new and popular children's entertainment options that will add to the overall experience of the event.

Family Movie Nights

Held once a month on Thursdays, the Family Movie Night events feature kid-friendly entertainers before the start of the screening that keep the little ones entertained until dusk.

Special Events

During the year the Wheeling Park District hosts 8 unique specials events ("Winterfest", "Earth Day", "Teen Pool Party", "Classic Car Show & Touch-a-Truck", "International Festival", "Fallapalooza", "Boonanza", and "Breakfast with Santa") where musical acts add to the experience of the event.

Calling all Food Trucks!

From November 1 - March 31, the Wheeling Park District is seeking high-quality food vendors to add to our guest experience and you are invited to apply to participate. This is not only a great opportunity to promote your business and product to a large audience, but to support the Wheeling community.
Applications are subject to a selection process including, but not limited to:

  • Uniqueness of menu items and creativity of booth 
  • Special Event experience (serving food at festival-style events)
  • Value based menu items
  • Compatibility with theme of event 
    CLASSIC CAR SHOW & TOUCH-A-TRUCK

    Average Crowd Size: 800 - 1000

    INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL

    Tentative Hours: 1:00 PM - 7:00 PM
    Average Crowd Size: 1000
    Example of Food Options:  Tacos, Tamales, Empanadas, Polish Sausages, Pizza, Ethnic Snacks, Indian Food, Ethnic Desserts
    FALLAPALOOZA

    Tentative Hours: 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
    Average Crowd Size: 800 - 1000
    Example of Food Options:  Corn on the Cobb, Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Pizza, Mexican Food
    OKTOBERFEST
    Tentative Date: Saturday, September 29
    Tentative Hours: 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM
    Average Crowd Size: 500
    Example of Past Performers: Sourkraut, Bratwurst, Jumbo Pretzels, Smoked Pork

Steps to Apply to Become a Food Vendor

  1. There is no cost to participate in this event. 
  2. All food establishments MUST complete a Wheeling Park District Food Concessionaire Application.
  3. All food establishments MUST apply for a temporary permit with the Village of Wheeling. There is no cost for the temporary permit.
    • Food trucks and facilities outside of Wheeling must provide the following 
      • Completed food truck or temporary event permit application
      • Copy of business license
      • Copy of most recent health inspection report
      • Copy of certified food sanitation manager license
    • Food trucks and facilities within the village of Wheeling are required to submit 
      • Completed food truck or temporary event permit application
  4. Submit all forms (Wheeling Park District Food Concessionaire Application and Temporary Event Permit or Food Truck Application) by emailing all signed forms to jacevedo@wheelingparkdistrict.com or in person at Wheeling Park District, 333 W. Dundee, Wheeling, Illinois 60090.
  5. If your application is accepted, the food vendor will be notified.
