Health & Fitness Center Grand Opening Celebration
Wheeling Park District will host a grand opening celebration on Saturday, August 10, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, at the new Health & Fitness Center. Try out the equipment and enjoy group-exercise class demonstrations, guided facility tours, giveaways, games and activities for kids, live DJ music, raffles and prizes. A special guest appearance by Tavares Chambliss, a competitor on NBC’s “American Ninja Warrior” series and Wheeling High School graduate, and a meet and greet with the “American Hero” character from Royal Princess Parties also will take place. The new 16,000 square-foot Health & Fitness Center opened in July and features a 9,350 square-foot fitness floor divided into zones for free weights, cardiovascular machines and functional fitness. Areas for stretching, personal training and assessment, locker rooms exclusively for use by Health & Fitness members and a studio for Pilates Reformer Training and massages were added. A large group-exercise room is located on the first floor; two additional group-exercise rooms are on the mezzanine level.
A second gymnasium also was constructed to provide increased community open-gym time, expanded league and tournament space and large-group programming. The floor surface is suitable for a wide range of play including basketball, futsal, volleyball and pickleball.
“Our comprehensive Health & Fitness Center is dedicated to supporting the long-term wellbeing of the community,” said Beth Harrington, Wellness Manager. “Our welcoming, knowledgeable staff engage with every guest to ensure that each health and wellness journey is tailored to meet individual goals.”
