Chamber Park Renovation Project
In accordance with the Wheeling Park District’s Neighborhood Park Improvement Plan, we are excited to begin the renovation of Chamber Park. As with the previous neighborhood park renovation projects, the Park District reached out to the community and Wheeling Historical Society during the planning and design process. The renovation will complement the historical significance of the existing facilities at Chamber Park. Throughout the course of the improvement project, please visit this page to see pictures and updates of the progress. We look forward to sharing each milestone reached in the development of this important community resource.
Some of the improvements include:
- Relocated park signage and new interpretive signage to improve user experience.
- Replacement of existing deteriorated asphalt parking lot and entrance drive.
- Replacement of existing deteriorated asphalt pathways to comply with ADA requirements.
- New asphalt and concrete pathways to improve circulation through the site, along with relocated bench seating.
- Replacement of existing site lighting with LED fixtures that complement the existing character of the site.
- New concrete plaza and shelter on axis with existing Chamber Church to improve functionality.
- Replacement of existing playground equipment and wood chips with new playground equipment options and safety surfacing.
- Site restoration and new landscaping to enhance the overall park and amenities.

Updates
April 11, 2025
Park staff have been on site completing small demo projects, including removing exterior piping and an electrical box previously used for holiday lighting. Work continues with the replacement of the building’s exterior siding. Wooden formwork has been set up around the perimeter— for pouring concrete.
August 2, 2024
Parks staff have continued with the site demolition for the new playground. The District is currently seeking bids for the paving and parking lot improvement scope of work.

As part of the Chamber Park Renovation Project, the Chamber Park playground equipment will be removed starting on Tuesday, July 23, 2024
