Earth Networks – Lighting Alert System

The Wheeling Park District is equipped with a sferic siren alerting system.  Here are what the sounds and strobe lights mean.

  • ONE LONG 15-SECOND HORN BAST – Lightning has been detected – Guests must seek shelter.
  • STROBE FLASHING – Lightning in Area Alert – Guests must seek shelter
  • THREE SHORT 5-SECOND HORN BLASTS – All Clear – It is safe to resume outdoor activities.

The web widget below will indicate when the District is on alert and when the all-clear has been given.
