The Wheeling Park District is ready for summer, are you? Live entertainment, Unplug at the Park, special events, and fun for everyone, all throughout the month of June!

Unplug at the Park

This summer, unplug with the Wheeling Park District at your local neighborhood park. These community events are all about engaging with family, friends, and neighbors in beautiful outdoor settings with free admission. Join us on Wednesday, June 8, at Heritage Park from 5:00 – 7:00 pm with Miss Jamie’s Farm, one of Chicagoland’s favorite children’s performers gets everyone involved in a show featuring music and songs. Wednesday, June 15, we will be at Chamber Park from 5:00 – 7:00 pm with Gary Kantor Magic. Experience the wonder of close-up magic tricks by a professional magician. Wednesday, June 22, we will be at Malibu Park from 5:00 – 7:00 pm with a balloonist, take home a balloon twisted into a unique, fun shape of your choosing. Wednesday, June 29, we will be at Mark Twain from 5:00 – 7:00 pm with Jesse White Tumbling. Professional tumblers are sure to amaze you with their athleticism and high-flying moves. Jester’s Food Truck will be selling donuts, shaved ice, and beverages at all Unplug events.

Live Entertainment

The Heritage Park Performance Pavilion is ready for live music again! Concerts in the park are a great way to gather with family, friends, and neighbors this summer. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets to comfortably enjoy the sounds of summer. Lead singer and lyricist Pino Farina’s powerhouse voice is his true instrument. The Pino Farina Band is known for their showmanship and high-energy performances. Join them on Friday, June 3 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm at the Heritage Park Performance Pavilion. Join Mariachi Monumental De Mexico with a magical and cultural evening with the sounds of the best traditional mariachi repertoire on Sunday, June 5 from 5:00 – 6:30 pm at the Heritage Park Performance Pavilion. Get up and dance to the hits from Stevie Wonder, Aretha, the Temptations, the Blues Brothers, and more. Motown Nation is bringing the best of the ’60s on Thursday, June 12 from 5:00 – 6:30 pm at the Heritage Park Performance Pavilion. The Four C Notes, recreating the music of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons is the Midwest’s only tribute band to this iconic group on Thursday, June 19 from 5:00 – 6:30 pm at the Heritage Park Performance Pavilion. Jennifer Fletcher & The Reckoning is a country and rock cover band with influences that include artists such as the Civil Wars, Patty Griffin, Miranda Lambert, Led Zepplin, the Allman Brothers and many more! Watch the wonderful performance at the Heritage Park Performance Pavilion on Thursday, June 26 from 5:00 – 6:30 pm. 

Special Events 

Inflatables, crafts, airbrush tattoos and entertainment from Wendy & DB! Kids Fest is on! Kids Fest will be located at the Heritage Park Performance Pavilion on June 18, 11:00 – 2:00 pm with free admission. Food will be available for purchase. How about a movie night at the pool? June 24,  Flick and Float is back with CoCo! Spend an evening at the Family Aquatic Center with family and friends while watching CoCo and enjoying a swim! Movie will begin at sundown with the FAC admission price. Don’t miss the fun at the Family Aquatic Center for the LUAU Pool Party. June 30 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm with the FAC admission price, bring your lei and participate in the Hawaiian theme.

Active Adults

Wine and Yoga in the Park? Yes, please. Come celebrate International Day of Yoga in beautiful Heritage Park on June 21, 6:00 – 8:00 pm. A one hour yoga class will be followed by light appetizers and wine. Beer and hard seltzer available as well. Must be 21 to attend (Fitness members: $25/ Non-members: $30). Lincoln Park Zoo is a 35-acre zoo in Chicago. For ages 55+ join a trip to the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago on June 16, from 10:00 – 3:00 pm. The zoo was founded in 1868, making it the fourth oldest zoo in North America. Spend the afternoon exploring with your friends. At lunch time, take a short walk to Clark street to dine at many local options. Lunch is not included and registration deadline is June 1 (Residents: $15/ Non-Residents: $20). Lake Geneva Wisconsin Boat Trip, Experience a narrated tour of the entire lake while you enjoy a delicious sit-down lunch! This boat tour is 2.25 hours. In addition, there will be free time after to walk around downtown Lake Geneva and explore. Registration deadline is June 1. Tickets need to be purchased in advance meaning no refunds can be issued (Residents: $63/ Non-Residents:$68). Don’t forget about the monthly Bingo for ages 55+ join the fun on June 29, from 1:00 – 3:00 pm  and play 10 games with prizes every round! Registration deadline is 1 week prior ($8 per person).
