FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need to pay for parking?

Parking is free and follows a first-come first-served policy. There are a limited number of handicap spaces next to each venue.

Are cameras, iPads, video recorders or selfie sticks allowed at special events?

Following is the general camera policy that can be changed based on a specific request from the attraction or promoter:

Still cameras of any type may be used to take pictures of sporting events or events where house lights are illuminated during a performance as long as it does not interfere with other guests view. Any tripod or other photography equipment may not be used or placed in any area that may become a hazard.

Where is the accessible parking lot?

Accessible parking at each venue is located adjacent to the each facility, based on a first-come, first-serve format. Only vehicles displaying a current handicapped license plate or window placard are permitted to park in handicap parking.

Is there a Lost and Found?

If you have lost an item during an event, please approach a staff member at any event. After an event you may call (847) 465-3333 during operating hours.

Animals

Only certified service animals, or service animals in-training for guests with disabilities, are allowed in the Community Recreation Center, Family Aquatic Center, and at Chevy Chase Country Club.

For any outside venue (the Performance Pavilion, walking paths, etc.), all other animals must be kept on a leash no more than 6 feet long, and picked up after. The animal’s leash cannot be tied to a tree, fence, or any other fixed object.

Where is the accessible parking lot?

If in need of first aid, please approach any Wheeling Park District staff worker at any event. If it is an emergency, please call 911.

Open Door Times

Doors or access to any event is usually open 30 minutes prior to the events. For a specific opening time, please visit each event page.

Guest Conduct

The Wheeling Park District intends to provide all guests with a safe, comfortable, and friendly environment. Our family atmosphere prohibits foul or abusive language, and any violation of these policies may result in ejection. Guests with obscene or indecent clothing or who are seemingly intoxicated will not be granted access into any Park District owned facility.

Restrooms

Restrooms are located on all events. Family restrooms are located only at the Community Recreation Center, 100 Community Boulevard, Wheeling during front desk service hours

Smoking Policy

Smoking is not permitted anywhere in any of the facilities, including vapor.

Children

Most events provided by the Wheeling Park District are open for all ages, yet there are particular events that do have age registrations. Please visit each event page for information about the age limit for each particular event.

SECURITY

Inspections

All guests entering any Park District owned facility are subject to visual inspection, and bag check by District personnel.

Prohibited Items

Guests of the Wheeling Park District are prohibited from entering any facility with the following:

  • Air horns or any other artificial noise makers
  • Banners, signs or flags
  • Fireworks
  • Laser pens or laser products of any type
  • Outside alcoholic beverages
  • Poles or sticks
  • Projectiles
  • Weapons of any kind, including guns, knives, pepper spray and mace
  • Any other item deemed inappropriate or hazardous
