CHILDERLEY PARK RENOVATION UPDATES
Throughout the course of the renovation project, please visit this page to see pictures and updates of the progress. We look forward to sharing each milestone reached in the development of this important community resource.
Some of the improvements include:
- New playground design for ages five through 12, featuring bright color play pieces
- Designated play area for ages two to five.
- Synthetic safety surface
- New 1/3 Mile Looped Path
- New shaded plaza space
- New Bocce court
Childerley Park consists of 12.7 acres and is located at 506 McHenry Road.

Childerley Park NOW OPEN!
October 16, 2023
The rubber base surface installation is nearing completion. Final sodding and landscaping is currently underway. Construction of the seat wall was finalized around the perimeter of the play area.
October 9, 2023
The perimeter asphalt path is complete. Cement bench pads have been poured. The top rubber layer of the base surface is being installed. Sodding and landscaping is currently underway.
October 2, 2023
Installation of the perimeter asphalt path is taking place. The bottom layer of rubber was added in preparation for the final top layer of rubber. Staff has begun working on sodding and leveling for seed. Bench pads are being poured.
September 25, 2023
Installation of the rubber surface is underway at the base of the playground areas. Development of the new asphalt path around the park has also begun.
September 18, 2023
Construction of the seat wall was started around the perimeter of the play area. An underground culvert was installed and is ready for the installation of the new asphalt surface. A base was also installed for the rubber surface.
September 11, 2023
Additional play structures were installed including the climbing wall, suspending bridge, spiral pole, and rotating seat. Staff has started surfacing the playground area.
September 5, 2023
The main frames and play pieces, including the slides, spider climber, and shade structures have been installed. Staff continues to install additional play pieces around the playground area.
August 28, 2023
Staff continues to install the Childerley Park playground, including the slides, shade structures, and spider climber. The site is being prepared to begin construction of the walking path that will circle the park.
August 21, 2023
The new playground is taking shape. The main frames that will support the swings, slides, play pieces, and shade structures are now being installed.
August 16, 2023
Concrete pouring is near completion. Installation of the new playground is now underway.
August 7, 2023
Staff continues to work on leveling the area and framing the foundation ring where the playground will be built for additional concrete pouring.
