Chamber Park Renovation Project

Staff completed major progress on site pathwork this week, with all remaining pathways now formed and ready for concrete pouring. Once finalized, these new walkways will provide smooth, accessible connections throughout the site and enhance the overall layout.

Excavation and grading work continues as the layout for key areas becomes more defined, with equipment on-site moving soil and preparing foundations for future features. Stormwater management systems are advancing with drainage and water-retention work ongoing.

Crews have been busy framing additional concrete walkways that will connect key areas of the park and improve accessibility. Underground drainage systems have also been installed, an important step in managing stormwater and ensuring the park remains functional during heavy rains. In addition, excavation work advanced on the stormwater basins, which will further enhance the site’s long-term sustainability. With these critical infrastructure pieces underway, the park is moving closer to its finished form.

The new gazebo has been fully installed and sits beautifully on a completed circular paver plaza. Fresh sod has been laid throughout the lawn areas, with irrigation and establishment now underway. Landscape beds have been mulched and planted with a mix of shrubs, perennials, and evergreens, adding both structure and seasonal color along the walkways.

Roof panel installation continues on the gazebo, bringing it closer to completion. Landscaping work is progressing with fresh plantings and mulch around the structure. Concrete paths are taking shape, connecting the gazebo to the surrounding park space.

Crews are continuing to refine the concrete paths and surrounding grounds, preparing the area for the next phase of development and beautification.

Construction at Chamber Park is progressing steadily, with the gazebo structure now fully framed and set atop a newly poured and finished concrete pad. Most of the concrete walking paths around the park have been poured, with remaining sections formed and ready for completion. Crews are shifting focus toward roofing installation on the gazebo and final grading and landscaping across the site.

The New Chamber Park Playground is Now Open! We’re excited to share that the new playground at Chamber Park is complete and open for play! Next up, construction will begin on the new park shelter and additional concrete walkways. Landscaping enhancements will also continue as the project enters its final phase.

The new Chamber Park playground is nearly complete and is expected to open to the public by the end of this week. Staff are currently conducting a safety audit of the play equipment and completing installation of the surrounding playground fencing. Once the playground is open, work will begin on the new shelter and additional concrete walkways. Landscaping improvements continue throughout the park as the project moves into its final phase.

Additional benches have been set on newly poured concrete pads, and fresh topsoil has been spread along walkways and planting beds in advance of final plantings around center area. Grading and pathway continues in remaining open areas, with equipment still active on site. Fence installation is near complete near the playground area as the playground area nears its final stages.

Final site features are coming into place. The new drinking fountain and benches have been installed, and freshly poured concrete pads now anchor key areas throughout the park. Fencing installation has begun around the playground area, adding a layer of safety and definition to the space. Crews continue with landscaping touch-ups and utility work.

Synthetic turf has been installed beneath the swings, adding a finished touch to the play area. Site furnishings including a new drinking fountain are now in place. Crews continue with final concrete formwork and utility work as landscaping wraps up around the site.

Playground safety surfacing installation is underway, with poured-in-place rubber material now covering key areas. Fresh sod has been laid across much of the site, bringing major landscape areas close to completion. Crews are actively working on hardscape features and site furnishings, including benches and walkways.

Playground sub-base aggregate has been placed around the installed play structures in preparation for final surfacing. Hydroseeding areas have been covered with straw blanket and temporary irrigation has been set to promote turf establishment. Pavement striping has been completed in the parking lot, with stall lines and accessible spaces marked.

The newly paved parking lot is now complete and open to the public with fresh striping and accessible parking clearly marked. Crews are currently focused on finishing concrete work for the ADA-accessible walkways and installing new seatwalls near the playground. Landscaping work is also underway to complete the surrounding areas and enhance the park’s appearance.

Asphalt paving is complete for the new parking lot and drive aisle. Playground installation is nearing completion, with all equipment set and safety surfacing being installed. Site grading and landscaping operations are actively progressing throughout the park.

The parking lot base has been installed, with paving scheduled to begin next week. Concrete park walks are currently being framed, and sub-base gravel is being placed in preparation for the playground’s rubber safety surface. The new drinking fountain has also been installed.

Playground Installation
Installation of the new playground equipment is well underway. Structural components are being assembled, and the site is progressing toward completion, with substantial installation expected to be finalized by mid-next week.

Phase II Parking Lot
Curbing installation for the Phase II parking lot is complete. Demolition of the existing asphalt is currently in progress, with regrading of the asphalt sub-base scheduled for next week by Martam Construction in preparation for paving operations.

Sidewalk Installation
Concrete placement has commenced for new sidewalk pathways.

Drinking Fountain Installation
Installation of a new drinking fountain is in progress and will be completed in alignment with surrounding site work.

Site grading continues throughout, moving the project closer to the next phase of paving.

Martam Construction has completed all underground stormwater piping, marking a major step forward in site infrastructure. Park District crews finished installing curbs and have begun work on walkways around the historic church. New concrete paths now connect key areas of the park, with additional walkway work underway. Weather permitting, asphalt path paving will begin in the coming days.

Significant work is being done on the park’s pathways. Pathway framing and base preparation are underway throughout the site, which will soon be followed by concrete pouring. In addition, early work has begun on the parking lot and infrastructure improvement.

New concrete curbing has been installed around the perimeter of the future playground area. This curbing helps define the layout and will provide a border for the safety surfacing to come.

Park staff have been on site completing small demo projects, including removing exterior piping and an electrical box previously used for holiday lighting. Work continues with the replacement of the building’s exterior siding. Wooden formwork has been set up around the perimeter— for pouring concrete.

Parks staff have continued with the site demolition for the new playground.  The District is currently seeking bids for the paving and parking lot improvement scope of work.

As part of the Chamber Park Renovation Project, the Chamber Park playground equipment will be removed starting on Tuesday, July 23, 2024
