Preschool Instructor

Tuesday & Thursday with the Preschool Prep Class, ages 2.5 – 3. Staff expected hours are 9:00 – 11:30 am

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Early Childhood or closely related field preferred. Or Associates Degree from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education in Education, Early Childhood. Or Minimum three (3) years teaching experience with young children.
  • Ability to prepare, organize, and implement creative lesson plans.
  • Ability to work with an assigned teacher assistant.
  • Able to operate a computer and use word processing skills.

Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:

  • Supervise all classroom activities and daily routines.
  • Establish a nurturing relationship with the children and parents and treat them in a positive manner.
  • Oversee, direct, and work with the teacher assistant on daily class preparation.
  • Prepare classroom & clean up daily.
  • Maintain a clean & organized work environment.
  • Maintain current certification for First Aid and CPR.
  • Prepare written lesson plans & submit them to the Preschool Director following the monthly curriculum-planning meeting.
  • Assign Teacher Assistant duties.
  • Review lesson plans and activities for the month with Preschool Director and Preschool Assistant Instructor
  • Attend all scheduled orientation, open houses, and informational nights as scheduled for the program.
  • Attend required training and safety programs as established and recognized by the Wheeling Park District.
  • Complete necessary forms and report all accidents, incidents, or inappropriate behavior to the Preschool Director.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the preschool program and submit recommendations for improvements and program changes to the Preschool Director
  • Maintain required records of programs and class participation documentation as required.
  • Performs the job safely and in compliance with Park District policies, procedures, work and safety rules.
  • Supports and exhibits the established organizational values of respect, communication, integrity, innovation, recognition, continuous learning, fun, empowerment and people.
  • Attendance/Punctuality – Demonstrate consistent attendance and on-time arrival 30minutes prior to class start time
  • Attend in-service training and workshops to promote knowledge in related areas of responsibility.
  • Possess good organizational skills and the ability to read and understand printed material.
  • Be safe and use good judgment in all aspects of the position.
  • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.

Pay Rate: $16 – $17 Hourly
