INDOOR POOL ACTIVITY DESCRIPTIONS
Adult Lap Swim
Who Can Participate: Open to adults 18 years and older.
Supervision: There are no lifeguards on duty during this time, so swimmers should exercise caution. It is recommended to swim with a partner or let someone know when you are swimming alone for safety.
Pool Setup: The pool is arranged with all four lane lines in place, making it ideal for lap swimming and personal workouts.
Atmosphere: Music is incorporated to create an engaging and motivating workout environment.
Description: This time is specifically designated for those looking to swim for exercise, conditioning, or training purposes without interruptions from recreational activities.
Things to Keep in Mind: As a self-directed workout time, participants should be mindful of sharing lanes and maintaining proper swim etiquette.
AquaFit Classes
Who Can Participate: Classes are open to members of the Health & Fitness Center as well as individuals with Group Exercise Class passes.
Supervision: There are certified lifeguards on duty during all Aquafit Classes.
Pool Setup: Classes take place in the Lap Pool. The lap lane lines are removed to create a larger swimming area to move around.
Atmosphere: Music is incorporated to create an engaging and motivating workout environment.
Description: A water aerobics class designed to improve cardiovascular fitness, strength, and flexibility through guided exercises in the water. AquaFit is a low-impact workout that is easy on the joints while still providing an effective cardio and resistance-training experience. Classes are led by a certified group exercise instructor who ensures a structured workout with modifications for different fitness levels.
Things to Keep in Mind: Lap Lanes are closed during all AquaFit Classes. Must have a H&FC Membership or Group Exercise Class Pass to participate.
Open Swim
Who Can Participate: Open to all ages, making it a great option for individuals and families looking to enjoy the pool together.
Supervision: There are certified lifeguards and an Aquatics Leader on duty at all times during Open Swim.
Pool Setup: Both the Leisure Pool and Lap Pool are open during this time.
Atmosphere: Music is incorporated to create an engaging and motivating workout environment.
Description: Open Swim is a popular time for families and recreational swimmers, so the pool may be busier than designated lap swim times. The Indoor Pool is available to those who wish to participate in non-lap swim activities. Unlike Lap Swim, this time allows for a mix of recreational and fitness activities. Participants can swim casually, play in the pools, or simply relax and enjoy the water.
Things to Keep in Mind: Lap lanes are often closed or unavailable during this time to accommodate a variety of activities. Lap swimming is not recommended, as the pool environment is geared toward leisure and family fun. Parents or guardians should closely supervise young children.
Swim Lessons
Who Can Participate: Open to individuals of all ages who have pre-registered for group or private swimming lessons. Lessons are typically offered for various skill levels, from beginners to advanced swimmers and ages 6 months to Adults.
Supervision: There are certified lifeguards and an Aquatics Leader on duty at all times during Swim Lessons
Pool Setup: Both the Leisure Pool and Lap Pool are closed to the public during this time to create a focused learning environment. The pool setup may vary depending on lesson levels, with shallow areas used for beginners and deeper sections designated for advanced swimmers.
Atmosphere: Music is not played during Swim Lessons to create a structured and supportive environment focused on skill-building, water safety, and confidence in the water. Lessons are conducted in small groups, allowing for personalized instruction while maintaining an engaging and social experience.
Description: Swim lessons focus on water safety, stroke development, floating techniques, and endurance. Lesson plans are designed based on skill levels, progressing from basic water comfort to advanced swimming techniques. Instructors incorporate fun and engaging activities to help younger swimmers feel comfortable while learning essential skills.
Things to Keep in Mind: Swim lessons take priority during this time, and public access to the pool is not permitted. Lessons are structured in sessions, and pre-registration is required. Drop-in participation is not allowed.
